they believe sport has tremendous power as a lever of sustainable and societal development, addressing the major challenges in our fast-changing world. We therefore took an early decision to place the Social Development Goals (SDGs) identified by the UN at the centre of this new event.Global Sports Week seeks to promote social and sustainable innovation led by organisations working in the social sector (NGOs, social businesses, unipersonal projects, etc.).
To support this ambition, we are creating an accelerator dedicated to helping sport and social projects to scale their operations… This booster programme will identify, promote and support impact-led projects from around the world.
GSW Booster is backed by partnership with 17 Sport.
Fabien Paget, co-founder: “17 Sport is the world’s first integrated sports impact company operating at the intersection of sport, business and purpose. they provide purpose-led business solutions – advisory, commercial and engagement – to progressive global sports properties, sponsors, athletes and non-profits wanting to do good while doing well through sport. they are a mission driven benefit corporation and committed to operating in a responsible way in line with our aspirations around B Corp certification.”
How will projects be accelerated?
The chosen projects will benefit from a one-year acceleration program after Global Sports Week (combining promotion, operational support from the GSW community, business and networking assistance, etc.). We will provide remote support throughout the year, with recurrent online meetings and follow up.
The nine best projects will be invited to Global Sports Week and have the opportunity to pitch their project in front of key leaders of sports business and society. We also plan on inviting and facilitating meetings with social investors.
What are we looking for?
They will select the most relevant projects from all around the world, responding to three specific SDGs:
- A proof of concept: our accelerator targets projects that have already proven the effectiveness and scalability of their model.
- Potential to scale up: the GSW Booster will help project holders find the best partners and development paths to increase their social impact.
