Str8bat Sports Tech Solutions selected for the SportsTech Melbourne Accelerator Program

Str8bat Sports Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd was founded in 2017 by Gagan Daga, Rahul Nagar and Ritesh Kapahi. It is the only start-up from India which got selected for the Techstars SportsTech Melbourne Accelerator Program. Str8bat utilizes state-of-art motion sensors that provide deep understanding on every aspect of batting including, swing speed, wagon wheel, impact speed, timing index and grounded shots percentage to the up-and-coming and professional batters.  Furthermore, it records the performance of a batter and assists in identifying the strengths and areas where a batter needs to improve on. The technology is based on IoT.

Str8bat’s clientele includes Just Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Dave Whatmore Centre for Sports Science in Chennai, Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, MS Dhoni Cricket Academy, Patna and RX Cricket Academy, Bengaluru. Furthermore, the Indian National Team and Afghanistan National Team as well have tried the product. Str8bat’s has announced discounts on their bat sensor during this difficult time of a pandemic. They have also introduced an online talk series, Str8talk by Str8bat to listen to cricketing legends talk about games and answer listeners’ questions.

Techstars SportsTech Melbourne Accelerator Program was announced in July 2019. The event centers around early-stage sports technology companies that intend to disrupt and guide innovation in high-performance sport, grassroots participation together with event and media technology. Corporate partners for the event include Tennis Australia, Victoria University and LaunchVic. The event was scheduled to start in March 2020 but, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the program has been delayed and will now begin on 1 June 2020. For 2020, the group of companies is very diverse. The global list of companies comprises of start-ups from Australia, Canada, India, USA, Germany, Spain and Austria. The founders of Techstars come from varied backgrounds including sports science professors, automotive engineers, , former athletes, and previously successful start-up entrepreneurs.

The objective of the event is to increase the pace of companies’ growth with their customer growth, fundraising and other primary business functions. Throughout the next two months, Techstars will be working with these start-ups to give programming, mentor connections and other resources until the event starts.
